Ta-da! Chubby mom’s special correspondent is back again…
Today, I’m going to review another souvenir I picked up during my last trip to Japan!
And the star of the day is… Matcha Latte!
Actually, I’ve introduced a matcha latte before,
but this time, I’m bringing you one from a different brand!
So, come along and check it out with me!

First, let’s start with a quick introduction to the Ito En Matcha Latte!

Ito En Matcha Latte
- Where to Buy: Mega Don Quijote, Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan
- Price: 499 yen (duty-free price, 180g per bag)
- Contents: Matcha latte powder (light green, grassy color)
- Quantity: 180g per bag
- Calories: Approx. 731 kcal per bag (65 kcal per 16g serving)
- Main Ingredients: Sugar, milk, matcha, vegetable oil, salt, etc.
- Flavor: Sweet matcha milk
- Features: Dissolves well in water, no need for milk
- How to Enjoy:
- Mix with hot water or milk for a warm latte
- Add ice for a refreshing iced matcha latte
Ito En is a well-known tea brand in Japan, so you can already feel a sense of trust from the start—it’s a matcha latte made by a company famous for its tea, after all!
The Ito En Matcha Latte packaging is also really cute. I especially love the gold borders on both sides—they somehow give it that extra charm.
Of course, it was Chubby mom who made the call and picked this up during our trip to Hokkaido, Japan.
One bag contains 180g, and the price was 499 yen. I bought it at Mega Don Quijote!

On the back of the package, all the important information is clearly listed—how to prepare it, ingredients, expiration date, and calorie content.
The calorie count is 65 kcal per 16g, and since one bag is 180g, that’s a total of about 731 kcal per bag!
Now, that might sound like a dangerously quick shortcut to pigging out 😅 when you hear the full number, but don’t worry—most people only use about 16g per serving when making a latte. So… no need to panic!
As for how to enjoy it, there are two simple ways:
- Mix with hot water or milk for a warm latte
- Add ice for a refreshing iced latte
The expiration date was until November, and since Chubby mom’s household bought this in June, it wasn’t a super long shelf life.
The main ingredients include: sugar, whole milk powder, skim milk powder, high-fructose corn syrup, dextrin, matcha, vegetable oil, salt, flavoring, pH adjuster, emulsifier, silicon dioxide, and sweeteners. (Yep—ChatGPT helped me look this up, hehe.)
Since it already contains milk and sugar, you can just add water and instantly enjoy a delicious latte—super convenient!

And at the top of the package, there's a clear tear line marked, making it easy to open.
It also has a resealable closure, so you can open and close it again for convenient storage.
As expected, if you hold the marked tear line and give it a good pull—juuuust like that—it opens up easily and cleanly!

A soft green, grassy-colored matcha latte powder catches your eye… and it’s so pretty!
To show the color more clearly, I transferred some into a bowl and took a photo.
If you look closely, you can even spot what seem to be little sugar-like granules—how interesting!

Now, it’s finally time to make the matcha latte!
Since the ingredients already include milk, I went ahead and made it with just hot water.
I put about 3 big teaspoons of the powder into a cup, poured hot water over it, and stirred well.
It dissolved perfectly with no clumps at all, and it was such a comforting, heartwarming hot matcha latte…
Just the right amount of sweetness, and the matcha flavor really stood out—I loved it!

The taste was almost exactly the same as the other matcha latte I reviewed before—the Iemon Matcha Latte!
Honestly, if you asked me to tell the difference, I probably couldn’t.
Both dissolve well in water, both have just the right sweetness, and both have a strong matcha flavor!
I’m really satisfied with both of them.
If you’re curious about the Iemon Matcha Latte I posted about earlier, check out the link below!

Your favorite correspondent from Chubby mom is back again… and yes, I’m here to introduce another item I picked up during my trip to Japan! (grinning) Today’s post is all about a super sweet and creamy matcha latte that’s perfect for comforting you
chubby-mom.tistory.com
After enjoying the hot matcha latte enough, I decided to make an iced matcha latte!
I poured the well-dissolved latte (made with hot water) into a glass and then loaded it up with ice cubes—plenty of them! (Stay cool, please…)
Oh, and since it’s iced, I added an extra scoop of matcha latte powder to make up for the ice melting.
I went a bit overboard with the ice, so it ended up overflowing… (Not an iceberg, though!)

Wow, this is seriously so delicious…
Whether it’s cold or hot, the matcha latte tastes amazing either way!
It’s just the right amount of sweetness, with a rich matcha flavor—you can really enjoy it hot or iced.
The expiration date is a bit short, so you probably can’t keep it until winter… but I’m definitely looking forward to cozying up with a warm latte this fall!
Whether it’s the Ito En Matcha Latte or the Iemon Matcha Latte, Chubby mom will definitely repurchase both when visiting Japan again!
I highly recommend this to anyone who loves lattes! (It’d probably taste even better mixed with milk…)

And with that, I’ll wrap up today’s post.
I hope this was helpful for anyone planning a trip to Japan or interested in Japanese products…
Alright then, that’s all for now—chung chung!! (Bye-bye for now!)
