Natori Chitara Cheese is a snack (or maybe a type of savory treat?) made from cheese and fish flakes! Here's what the packaging looks like below.

I meant to take a picture of a brand-new, unopened one… but my family devoured it before I got the chance. So I barely managed to snap a photo of the leftovers—such a sad story… (Tragic, truly 😭).

Inside the bag, you’ll find these pale, thin, stick-like cheese strips. They look simple, but trust me—there’s more than meets the eye!

Natori Chitara Cheese (Snack / Appetizer)

  • Where to Buy: Mega Don Quijote in Sapporo, Hokkaido (but you can find it all over Japan!)
  • Net Weight: 130g
  • Calories: 442 kcal
  • Price: 359 yen (duty-free)
  • Features: Thin fish sheets wrap around both sides of the cheese sticks
  • Taste: A perfect balance of salty fish and creamy cheese—great as a savory snack or a delicious drinking appetizer!

Chubby mom's friend swears by this snack and buys it every single time she goes to Japan—says it’s super tasty and perfectly salty, whether as a snack or a drinking appetizer. So, of course, I trusted Chubby mom and her friend's recommendation and grabbed it right away!

I think we ended up buying about seven bags of it at Don Quijote!

And now… they’re all gone. 😭
I'm barely managing to write this post with the very last bag (looking a bit sad and crumpled, just like me… haha).

On the lower front part of the package, there's a little note explaining that the cheese is sandwiched between fish sheets—and the expiration date is clearly marked too.

Just like the corn snacks I mentioned before, the shelf life is on the shorter side! (I bought it during my trip in June, and the expiration date was already September… 😭 Oh my heart, how could they!)

But honestly… they disappear so fast, there’s no chance they’ll last that long anyway. It’s like magic. ✨

On the back of the package, you’ll find the usual nutrition facts and a friendly explanation of how to enjoy the snack.

But… beware.
Here comes the real danger: the calories!! 😱

It’s shockingly high—340 kcal per 100g, and since one bag is 130g... yep, that’s a total of 442 kcal. Dun dun dun...

If you start mindlessly munching on this while watching TV, you’re basically boarding the express train to becoming a chubby little piglet... 🐷 (Be careful, be very careful!!)

나토리_사진6

On both top corners of the package, there are little tear lines marked, so you can easily open it by hand. And just like you'd expect from Japanese packaging—it opens super smoothly. (Thumbs up for that! 👍👍)

나토리_사진7

Once you open the bag, you’ll find these long, thin cheese sticks inside—along with an oxygen absorber packet.
Important note: do not eat that!! 😆😂
Just in case someone out there might not know… I’m kindly pointing it out before anyone does something silly!

If you look at the photo, you can see the thin, lighter-colored fish sheets wrapped around both sides of the cheese sticks. (So pretty and delicate!)

Here’s a photo of a piece with a bite taken out of it. That salty flavor makes it a perfect match for drinking snacks. And honestly, I have a feeling it would taste amazing grilled over a fire too… just a vibe.

Anyway, it’s delicious just as it is—salty, addictive, and dangerously good. But watch out! Because of the high calories, you really need to keep your wits about you while enjoying it… (Remember that, remember that, remember that! Oink oink!! 🐷)
