Ta-da-da-daaa~ Once again, it’s your favorite roving reporter from Chubby Mom’s Kitchen!
Back with another delicious find to share with you all! And what is it this time…?
It’s none other than the Salmon Olive Oil Steak that Chubby Mom and her daughter eat almost once a week like clockwork!
And guess what? You can make it right at home — no oven needed!
It’s super easy to make, incredibly healthy, and goes perfectly with a variety of veggies.
Let’s get right into it!

First, let’s go over what you’ll need to make this Salmon Olive Oil Steak… (heh heh~)
Super Easy Salmon Olive Oil Steak
Ingredients:
- ★ Salmon (We buy frozen steak-cut salmon from Emart!!)
- Shrimp (Optional – totally fine to skip!)
- ★ Green onion, ★ Lemon, Whole garlic cloves, Minced garlic
- ★ Olive oil, ★ Black pepper, ★ Salt, Basil
- Carrot, Broccoli, Mushrooms (Any kind you like!), Cabbage, Tomato, Shishito peppers, Onion
- → Ingredients marked with ★ are essential. The rest are optional — feel free to add or skip based on your taste!
Tools:
- ★ Frying pan (Preferably a large one so you can fit the veggies too!)
- ★ Lid that fits your frying pan
- ★ Parchment paper
This Salmon Olive Oil Steak is actually a recipe Chubby Mom came across somewhere and decided to try because it looked super healthy!
Now, I’ll walk you through it step by step — so follow along carefully!
Step 1.
First, cut two long sheets of parchment paper and lay them in a cross (X) shape inside your frying pan.
These days, parchment paper is easy to find at almost any supermarket.
We’ll be wrapping the ingredients in this cross-shaped paper later on — and here’s the best part:
Once the cooking’s done, you can just lift out the parchment paper and toss it. No mess left in the pan!
It’s super convenient and keeps your frying pan clean — Chubby Mom loves this trick!

Step 2.
Next, place sliced lemon at the very bottom of the parchment paper, spreading the slices out evenly.
Then, roughly chop the green onion into large pieces and use it to cover the rest of the bottom.
The lemon and green onion help eliminate any fishy smell from the salmon, and they also serve an important purpose later on — since we’ll be cooking for about 20 minutes, they act as a protective layer to prevent the salmon and veggies from burning underneath.
(Their noble sacrifice… 🫡)

Step 3.
Now, place the prepped steak-cut salmon (we got ours from Emart) right on top of the lemon and green onion.
By the way — the date printed on the packaging isn’t the expiration date... it’s the manufacturing date!
(Just in case you were wondering... says Chubby Mom, shyly cringing)
In our kitchen, Chubby Mom uses frozen salmon because it’s more budget-friendly,
but feel free to use fresh salmon instead!
Just remember to slightly shorten the cooking time if you go with fresh.

Step 4.
Next, drizzle a generous amount of olive oil over the salmon,
then sprinkle on salt, pepper (either whole or ground), and basil to taste.
Pepper and basil help reduce the fishy smell,
so pepper is a must in Chubby Mom’s kitchen — she never skips it!
The olive oil we use is the same one Chubby Mom’s daughter introduced in a previous post:
the one and only Divella Extra Virgin Olive Oil — we seriously love this stuff and use it all the time!

Today!!It's been a while, but I'm finally back to introduce an olive oil that my whole family (a.k.a. Chubby mom's family 😄) has been absolutely loving—we’re already on our fifth bottle! These days, olive oil has become a staple in many kitchens, an

Step 5.
Next, evenly add in whole garlic cloves and minced garlic cubes.
Garlic is also great for getting rid of any fishy smell,
but more than that — when the whole garlic cloves are fully cooked,
they become incredibly soft and buttery — seriously, the texture is just like eating real butter!
That’s why Chubby Mom’s family always makes sure to add plenty.

Step 6.
Next, add the shrimp and your choice of chopped vegetables.
Honestly, you can adjust the veggies however you like,
but Chubby Mom’s family loves to load up on a wide variety of veggies.
Usually, they also use eggplant, asparagus, and bell peppers a lot,
but today those were out of stock, so we just went with what we had on hand. 😢
For today’s batch, Chubby Mom’s kitchen added carrots, shishito peppers, broccoli, tomato, onion, red cabbage, and enoki mushrooms, like in the photo below!

Step 7.
Then, drizzle a bit more olive oil on top,
and sprinkle a little extra salt, pepper, and basil.
Adjust the amounts to your own taste — it’s totally up to you!

Step 8.
Next, gently grab the top layer of the parchment paper and fold it over tightly.
Then, do the same with the bottom layer, folding it over snugly as well.
(Be sure to fold it tightly, not loosely!)

Step 9.
Now, cover the frying pan with a lid that fits.
In Chubby Mom’s kitchen, to prevent the parchment paper from loosening or coming undone,
we place a flat plate on top of the paper before putting on the lid.
But if you don’t have a plate, no worries — you can just close the frying pan lid directly!
(We’ve even tried it without the plate, and it works great!)
Start by cooking on high heat for 2–3 minutes until you hear it bubbling,
then lower the heat to medium and let it cook for 20–25 minutes without opening the lid.
That’s it!!!
(Seriously, that’s all there is to it… so incredibly simple!)

Now, it’s time for the big reveal!! Ta-da!
After about 25 minutes, lift the lid off the frying pan...
Remove the plate and unwrap the parchment paper... and voilà!
Your dish is perfectly cooked and ready to enjoy!
So simple, right?!

Seriously, you just leave it to the parchment paper and frying pan, go relax for 25 minutes…
and ta-da! Your super easy salmon steak is ready to go!!
Look at those perfectly cooked veggies on top — all tender and delicious.
Honestly, it’s just sooooo good… 😭

Here’s the dish beautifully plated!
At the bottom, there’s a flavorful sauce made from olive oil, vegetable juices, and minced garlic,
which keeps the salmon and veggies moist and adds an amazing savory depth to every bite.
The salmon is cooked perfectly all the way through,
with no fishy smell at all — just pure deliciousness!

One plate for Chubby Mom, and one for her daughter!
Pair this with some whole grain rice, and it’s an absolute flavor bomb — seriously, so good!
If you, like Chubby Mom’s family, love healthy food,
this dish is a total must-try. I’m seriously recommending it — you’ve got to give it a go!!!
(Just try it once… you’ll be hooked, no joke!)

And with that, we wrap up today’s post!
I hope this was helpful for all the health food lovers out there,
and anyone wanting to make a super simple, no-oven salmon steak right at home.
That’s all for now... Choom choom! (That’s a fun way of saying goodbye!)
