During our trip to Sapporo, Hokkaido, we discovered a truly special souvenir... It’s the one and only Hokkaido-exclusive roasted corn snack, “Oh! Yaki-Toukibi!!!

Not only is it super tasty, but the packaging is also so cute—it’s absolutely perfect as a gift for family and friends! (Gather around, everyone!!)

While Chubby mom's family was wondering what kind of souvenir to bring back from the trip, we thought, “Let’s trust the power of a good search!” So Chubby mom dove into a search frenzy—and that’s how she found this gem!

A true limited-edition snack that you can only get in Hokkaido, and one that really captures the flavor and memory of the region.

Thanks to the bold “Hokkaido Exclusive” label on the package, it’s clearly a perfect pick for a travel souvenir. Plus, the crisp texture, rich roasted flavor, and sweet corn taste come together perfectly… So good!!!

When you open the box, you’re greeted with this super cute corn-shaped paper—adorable!
At first, just looking at the snack packaging, I thought, “Is this going to be like a typical corn snack with just a bit of corn powder mixed in, like we have in Korea?”

But the moment I opened the bag—surprise!! Not only are there snack pieces, but there are actual roasted corn kernels inside! That was the first surprise.  Then I thought, “Wait, won’t these real corn bits be hard or weird to chew?” But when I took a bite—crunch!—they were crispy yet soft, and I was shocked again.

And the flavor? So nutty and savory—it was seriously addictive!  It reminded me of a richer, toastier version of Korea’s “Ssalrobyul” (쌀로별). I just couldn’t stop reaching for more!

After returning to Korea, I shared the snacks with my family and friends—and the reactions were amazing! (So proud!!)  Since it’s only available in Hokkaido, it really stands out compared to souvenirs from other parts of Japan.

Each snack is individually wrapped inside the box, and the expiration date is clearly printed on each pack, so it’s perfect for sharing.

Just one thing to note! The shelf life is a bit short—so make sure to enjoy them quickly!  (But honestly, even if the shelf life is short, it’s totally worth it because it’s that delicious. Highly, highly recommended!)

Our family only bought two large boxes and two small boxes of this snack… After giving them all to friends and eating just one small box ourselves, I seriously regretted it ....

It was so delicious—I wish we had bought more.....(so sad)  I’m still kicking myself over it.
We ran out of space in our suitcase, and we had too much other stuff to carry (got a bit greedy), so we had to give up… Next time, I’m definitely bringing an extra small suitcase just for snacks—I promised myself that! (Tears…)

I took a photo with both the snack and the real corn kernels together… Honestly, the kernels aren’t hard at all—they’re perfectly crispy and just a little salty, so delicious!

If you’re planning a trip to Hokkaido—or if you know someone heading there—make sure to grab this roasted corn snack or ask them to bring it back for you!  It’s a truly special souvenir that you can only find locally in Hokkaido, and the taste is fantastic. You won’t regret it!

That said… I checked Naver recently, and it seems you can now buy it online in Korea through overseas purchasing services, but at a pretty steep price.

However, as I mentioned earlier, the price Chubby Mom paid in Hokkaido was much cheaper—especially with duty-free savings!  It’s almost half the price or even less if you buy it locally.  So if you have a chance to visit Hokkaido, definitely buy it there!!

And with that, the Chubby Mom family’s recommendation for a must-have Hokkaido travel souvenir comes to an end…  Stay tuned for another souvenir review next time—can’t wait to share more! (Lots of love and support, please!!)

It’s been raining heavily since yesterday! Hope everyone is prepared for the upcoming rainy season… Stay dry out there!

Alright then, signing off for now—chu chu (kiss kiss)!!!
